FacilityLive Coding4Kids is a private coding session conceived by FacilityLive and organised with the support of the Municipality of Pavia dedicated to all primary school students of Pavia. The initiative aims at promoting digital competences and connecting children with the worlds of coding and technology.
Each two hours coding session takes place in the FacilityLive’s Headquarters in Pavia, where students discover the magic world of coding while playing with fantasy characters under the guidance of a group of tutors from the FacilityLive R&D Team.
The FacilityLive Coding4Kids started as a pilot initiative during Europe Code Week 2014 and in the last three years it has connected to coding more than 500 children of the city.
In 2017 it has become a Pledge of the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition that has received the seal of approval of the European Commission. The European Commission has launched the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition to develop a large digital talent pool and ensure that individuals and the labour force in Europe are equipped with adequate digital skills.
FacilityLive’s pledge is a concrete commitment that will help to reduce the digital skills gap in Europe, also by making FacilityLive Coding4Kids a best practice that can be easily replicated and scaled up by any city by connecting public authorities, business, education, training and labour market stakeholders in their respective ecosystems.
